Tablet Pressure Curve Tool

ENG > This application is designed to improve experience with Wacom tablets. Sometimes you have to press your pen with unnecessary force to get maximum opacity. With driver configuration is possible to change the pen response, but maximum force required for pressing the pen is still the same. This application helps you to modify all three control points of tablet sensitivity curve. Good settings can reduce the force required on the pen and still preserve linear sensitivity so you can hold your pen lighter, protect your pen tip, tablet surface and of course your hand…

  1. At the bottom of the program it says “Wacom Configuration File Not Found…” And I’m unable to do anything. ): I’m not sure what to do.

    • Sorry for the really late response, WordPress somehow managed not to inform me about a new comment.
To the question. There are several locations in system where Wacom configuration file is stored. With no configuration file found in system there is no way for the tool to modify pressure curve values. So, you can try to run Wacom configuration tool first – that should create a valid config file or open configuration file manually with File->Open.

  3. Hi I have a laptop runing widows 7 x64
With photoshop cs5 for drawing and painting
    And ZBrush 4r2 for sculpting
    Soon get painter

At this time I have a wacom bamboo fun
But it’s time to upgrade so I was going for either the medium Wacom intuos 4 or new 5
So my question is will this has anybody use this Tablet-Pressure-Curve-Tool
with the wacoms I mention above?

    • It is possible to use it with Intuoso tablets to customize pressure curve. This tool was developed because pressure curve setting was removed from tablet configuration at some point. But as I saw on some screenshots the feature is back in newest drivers of pro-level tablets (6.2.0w5) and it does the same job. (probably Wacom noticed, that there is too many peoples messing with pressure curve so they finally decided to implement the feature back)

    • For give me i am trying to understand before i buy So are you saying that the intuos models are pro level Tablets?

So are you saying if I buy either the Wacom intuos 4 or 5 I won’t need this Tablet Pressure Curve Tool ?

      • Wacom have three “classes” of tablet product. The most basic (entry level) “class” is now called Bamboo. Second “class” – Intuoso is considered for general professional work and is mostly used by graphics designers. The third “class” named clinq is really expensive, but you are able to literally draw on the monitor.

I could recommend Concept Art forum – Wacom section (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=155) – there is a lot of threads about wacom tablets. But, of course, it is discussion forum so expect that there is a lot of people with problems. Users without problems does not talk about their “positive experience” on the web.

You can use this tool with Intuoso tablets. There is a lot of users with intuoso tablets that are using this tool. The “sensitivity” of pen is a quite personal so some users can work without pressure curve modification, but some with “lighter hands” appreciate some adjustments. And yes, the new driver should have implemented functionality of this tool so it is not necessary to use this tool and use driver settings instead.

        • Thanks so much for your help
I just told my friend that is heavy handed when he draws on his Wacom intuos 4
so he just upgrade to the lastest driver for his model and he said he notice a great difference right way he is very happy

Now I been over reading at Wacom forum and some people don’t seem to be too happy about the new intuos 5
I think I might go with the intuos 4
Unless you have notice something different and better beside the muilt touch thingy that can have better control over drawing straight lines and curves better that 5 can do better then 4?

          • Sadly I don’t have personal experience neither with intuos4 neither with intuos5. But I remember when Intuos4 was entering market there was a lot of complaints about usb connectors, fast wearing tips and so on… but in the end everybody in design business was (and still is) using intuos4 and except probably few unlucky guys problems generally disappeared. And i believe the same “hype” is going on with intuos5. So it is wise to consider what are people complaining about, but some problems will be fixed in the newer drivers and after few years it could be difference to work with one generation old tablet or two generation old… The happy customers with intuos5 are probably still drawing and they don’t have time to “chat” about their awesome new toy so on discussion forums is always some disproportion.

  4. Finally my tablet feels like I expected it to feel when I bought it. Big thanks!

  5. This new version is working fine so far! Thanks again!

  6. This looks really useful though it is somewhat unusable on the Samsung Series 7 Slate. The window is too big for the native 1366×768 screen, so the bottom buttons are off the screen.

Just something to keep in mind for us tablet pc users.

    • Thanks for your reply. This is a little embarrassing bug, but i actually don’t have any Slate available for testing. So I implemented driver support and so on (and it should be ok), but it is still “experimental” because I never had a Slate in my hands.
I will fix this bug in next release.

      • I was able to work around the issue by switching my slate to portrait mode before running your utility (this effectively made the resolution 768×1366), which let me see the apply button. The downside being that now the right side of the app is cut off.

It’s a minor issue imo, but if you want me to test anything for you feel free to contact me. My gmail is jjb1977. Thanks for making this by the way.

        • So I was little experimenting with the desktop size and still feel a little bit confused. The Tool should have fixed Form size (about 730×680) so it should fit in your slate desktop perfectly without missing parts. At Win7 and XP with resolution 1024×768 there are no problems with form size at my test computers. Problem similar to your description is occuring with lower resolutions (about 800×600). But it is possible that slate is configured different by default (for better readability, or who knows) and it is causing this behavior.

Edit: Yes, slate is set to 125% scale – thanks Josh.

  7. good work!! Do you have also a solution for mac?

  8. I would like to report a bug with the current version. I am running Windows 7 x64 and I am running it elevated. I noticed I have to not use the pen to interact with the computer at all or the settings won’t stick. Launching the application with the pen alone (and using the mouse to allow it to run elevated) will stop all changes from being applied.

In essence: launch the program with the mouse ONLY and do not use the stylus until the settings have been applied and the service restarted.

    Running v1.6.3.0 by the way.

  9. Hi! Great tool but…is it only for wacom tablets?
I have a Genius tablet and i don’t know if the configuration file is the same. Thanks and sorry for my english.

  10. There´s not a graphic curve at all when I open the program… Pressure graph window is completely empty. I run the program as an administrator, I have downloaded an uppdated driver for my wacom tablet… What have I done wrong?

    • It’s possible that the config file is empty, or without required settings (driver uses its default values). Try to run wacom preferences first – it should generate correct config file. After that it should be possible to use tablet tool.

  11. Thanks so much. I have tried to manually adjust this before with no luck. my tablet feels much better now.

  14. Great tool!
Unfortunately it seems like the software can’t find the pen pressure settings, when you’re also using the Wacom Mouse.
